Experience 18th and 19th century history through the events and lives of people associated with Belmont Mansion in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, PA. Our house museum is dedicated to colonial history and the 19th century network of people and places known as the "underground railroad."

Built in the early eighteenth century, the Mansion is one of the finest examples of Palladian architecture in the United States. The Belmont Mansion property became part of Fairmount Park in 1869, and is now an underground railroad museum open to the public for tours.

Celebrate Women's History Month at Belmont Mansion A book signing celebrating Women's History Month will take place at the Belmont Mansion from 3pm–5pm on Saturday, March 31st. Embrace African American women authors and enjoy stimulating conversation with Join Joan Meyers Brown of Philadanco Dance, Cheryl Ann Wadlington with Sonya Beard, authors of The Diva Girl's Guide to Style and Self-Respect, and Marion T. Lane, author of Patriots of African Descent in the Revolutionary War, Part I.

February, 2012—Expansion Project Ground Breaking Ceremony at Noon Please join The American Women's Heritage Society in partnership with the Honorable Mayor Nutter, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank, Former Governor Edward Rendell, and Senator LeAnna Washington, in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility at Historic Belmont Mansion and Underground Railroad Museum. Now through February 29, 2012—Unchained Memories: Readings from the Slave Narratives, a Photographic Exhibition Back by popular demand, this exhibit is presented by The American Women's Heritage Society in celebration of Black History Month. Together let's build our heritage for the future: teachers, bring your classes, parents, bring your children. Inspired by an HBO-produced film of the same title, the exhibit begins with the prize-winning video which includes narrative readings by such celebrities as Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Don Cheadle, and Samuel L.
